IF YOU CARE

The Dartmouth & Kingswear Society (D&K) was formed in 1959 as an amenity society registered with the Civic Trust and is a Registered Charity. It monitors all planning applications affecting the area and has been instrumental in the establishment of a Conservation Area management plan which has led to many improvements in the appearance of the town.

The D&K cooperates with statutory bodies to help to ensure that necessary growth and development benefit all the inhabitants of the area.

The D&K is dedicated to the improvement of facilities of all kinds and has been active in the planning and promotion of traffic management, car parking, footpath access, public open spaces and recreational and cultural facilities.

The D&K recognises the essential contribution that visitors to the area make to its economy and believes that the needs of visitors and residents should be considered together. It is important for all that Dartmouth should remain a thriving commercial centre.

The D&K promotes research, educational activities, talks, meetings and exhibitions designed to extend knowledge of the geography, history, natural history and architecture of the area. It also publishes booklets on local subjects.

IF YOU CARE about these things, we need you to join us
in helping to secure a future for the area, as a thriving community set in a beautiful natural and man-made environment.

WHAT DO YOU GET BY JOINING

As well as formal occasions such as the Annual General Meeting, the D&K organises lectures and discussion meetings on subjects of local interest. It also organises social events, including coffee mornings and an annual summer party. Members are particularly welcome to participate in the work of the society, for example by contributing to the various sub-committees which are set up from time to time to take forward particular business.
